HISTORY OF THE CENTRE FOR LEGAL STUDIES

The legal studies centre had its origin in the 1940s of the last century when there was a need to complement and update the legal culture of future judges and prosecutors. This act of 26 may 1944 on establishment of the judiciary school.

On 6 june 1950 began its activity and in 1950 are installed in the current building of the University city.

The Organic Law 15/1994 of 8 november, of modification of the judiciary act, article 434, attributed to "cej" "selection, training and further training of members of the Prosecutor, the secretariat and other personnel in the service of the administration of justice". Excluded in this Act the training of judges spend taking place in a school.

Shows the same article 434: "Centre for legal studies annually provide training on the principle of equality between women and men and their implementation with a cross-cutting nature by members of the Prosecutor, the body of Registrars and other personnel in the service of the administration of justice, as well as on detection and treatment of situations of gender-based violence".

And paragraph 3 of this article: "Regulations will establish the organization of the centre and appointment of senior management. In addition, it will establish permanent relations with the competent organs of the autonomous communities".

A result of this obligation is the royal legislative Decree No. 312/2019, of 26 april. (BOE no. 113 of 11/05/2019) in the current Status.

The new statute aims to enhance the effectiveness of strategic management training, its content to the demands of learning of the twenty-first century and update the regulatory framework and designations of the bodies of the administration of justice. It includes the establishment of two new bodies: the department of Training establishments for the Prosecutor and the education commission, introduced the principles of transparency and objectivity in decision-making and regulatory framework are updated and reinforced the autonomous scope of Legal Studies centre.
